What is your role at Modularis?
I’m a software engineer at Modularis. My main focus is on Microsoft technologies and DevOps; I work on projects that automate infrastructure, streamline workflows, and reduce repetitive human tasks.
What does delivering value for your customers mean to you?
When I started in this industry, I had very different ideas about delivering value than I have now. I thought the value was in delivering code quickly and without errors. And this is important, but the most important part – at the core of delivering value – is understanding the pain points of our customers and helping them find ways to solve their challenges.
How long have you been at Modularis?
I was working with a partner company that took Modularis on as a client, so I’ve been working with Modularis for four years on a consulting basis. About one year ago, I made the switch to work for Modularis directly.
How did you hear about Modularis?
When I was working at my previous company, I was consulting and assigned to Modularis full-time, so I knew them and their work.
What made you decide to take the job at Modularis?
When you start working with Modularis, you see that the bones of the company are so aligned with your beliefs. The core values at Modularis are significant to me, and they represent me and my values. They guide us to be better professionals – not just in a technical way, but in a human-being way. I have learned so much since I’ve been here; working with people who have decades of experience in the industry like Jaime and A.J. – they spend time with us to help us grow and become better professionals.
What did you do before joining the team?
Professionally, I’ve always been in software engineering with a focus on Microsoft technologies. (Modularis is a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner!)
Where did you go to school?
I went to Universidad Autónoma de Occidente in Cali, Colombia.
What did you study?
I studied computer engineering at university.
What has your career path been like in software development?
I’ve always been curious to understand how things work, ever since I was young. As a child, I would disassemble and then try to reassemble things. . . I’d always have spare parts, but it always worked!
When I was a teenager, the internet was beginning to become more mainstream and it was captivating to me. I was interested to know how it works, and that became my motivation to explore computers and technology.
He has a very positive and infectious energy, and a gentleness to him that helps his teammates and customers open up. He has a calming effect, too, on situations that may be tense or challenging.

What is your favorite project you have worked on at Modularis?
I have two favorite projects. First, is my current project – creating a subscription service that solves a client issue and helps their sales workflow. The second was an internal project in which we were automating repetitive tasks when deploying a new product. With the release of any new product, some steps are the same – which was creating problems, so we fixed that!
It’s interesting work because we tie together multiple technologies and security, and balance all the parts to make it work. A.J. always says “you’ll never get bored at Modularis,” and I appreciate the push to be a better professional; the challenges are exciting for me!
Tell us about your life outside of work. Family life? Hobbies?
I’m a home brewer! In my free time, I make beers. This is my main hobby. Another is motorbikes, I love them. But home brewing is my passion. Ever since I started in software development, I primarily use my brain. I like to complement brain work with manual work from time to time.
I started to get curious (see the theme here!) about how beer is made, so I started to read about it and investigate the process and ingredients. That was six years ago, and I’m still trying to learn more to improve my beers! I started Beer Safari and for a time I sold it to my friends and family; but now I just share it. I don’t want to make it another job, I just enjoy creating new beers and funky new names! My first beer was called Freckles – it was an American Pale Ale. I created another called Pance 3B named for a forest near Cali.
What should people know about Modularis and how we support the unique challenges of software development?
My personal thought on Modularis is that we don’t just “do” software, we give advice and access to the best technology and solutions. We listen to their challenges and know, in a technical manner, when they are headed in the wrong direction. The most valuable thing we can offer to the customer is to understand their pain points and provide a better solution, and this is what we do. We aren’t just hands that make software, we’re the brains, too – we guide our customers to success using our knowledge and experience.
What are your personal values and how do they help you in your work at Modularis?
My values are aligned with Modularis’, and that’s one of the reasons I joined the team. I believe in taking care of the people you love – your family and friends – and this is what Modularis does. They take care of us so we can take care of our customers.
I am also family first – such an important part of my life and a core value at Modularis. My teammates are my family here and we all take care of each other.
And finally, trust. If teammates don’t trust each other, it’s difficult to work – and this is in my personal and professional life. I always try to prioritize trust. I feel so much comfort with Modularis because our values line up, and Modularis’ core values match my own!
Arturo has shown tremendous growth since he’s joined us. He never shies away from responsibility and he truly lives our core values. He’s indispensable. — A.J. Singh, CEO, Modularis
